I've been told that immitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I don't think so. Not when it comes to weddings.
Sure all weddings are the same after a while still, I don't think it is necessary to choose:
1. The same church
2. The same priest (who isn't even from the chosen church)
3. Same readings and same songs (ok, not all but two out of 4 is NOT good)
4. Extremely similar menu for the reception
5. Same music for the reception
6. Same coloured evening gown (had a second gown in the same cut- mermaid)
7. Same programme format
8. Exact same wordings on the invitation card (only changed the name)
9. Same colour theme for decoration (using the same red and ivory roses with gold and ivory candles)
The bride did ask me for my contacts and the text for the wedding so I suspected some parts of the wedding would be similar. Still, I didn't expect that they would use the same theme colours, the bride wear such a similar evening gown, follow the same format... You would think it would be embarassing to have such similar wedding within 4 months of each other where there are many guests who were invited to both.
I can only be glad that:
1. Mine was first
2. Mine was obviously carefully planned (example: theirs were kinda a muted copy - for the church decor, they used more ribbons than flowers, they had their reception in a 4 star business hotel whereas mine was in a luxury hotel).
